I obviously see your point, but I think of it more as Glen just being honest and putting his thoughts and ideas down as music. He was writing for the group before and had to be concerned about what they would play, now it's just him and he has the freedom to experiment more and bring out his individuality. Good or bad it's his music. At least he's not making up poppy lyrics that blend in with everyone else's.
p.s. He changed some of his lyrics when I saw him live, so I wouldn't be suprised if his next cd is a bit milder.
